Your wedding skin timeline: what to book and when Glowing, on your day

You have chosen the dress, the venue and the playlist. Now you want skin that looks like you, on your very best day: rested, glowing and camera ready from every angle, including the close-ups you never asked for.

The secret is not one big treatment the week before. It is timing. Some treatments need months to build, some need weeks to heal, and some are best done days before. Book them in the wrong order and you end up with swelling in your photos or a course that finishes after your honeymoon.

Here is the timeline we plan with our brides.

9 to 12 months before: why start IPL so early?

IPL hair removal needs 6 to 8 sessions per area, spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart, so a full course can take 6 to 9 months. Starting early also means you can avoid sun and fake tan for 2 weeks either side of each session without it clashing with a pre-wedding tan. Underarms and bikini are the areas brides ask for most, especially for the honeymoon. See IPL hair removal.

This is also the moment to book a free consultation. Bring your date, your photos and your worries. We will put your whole plan on one page.

6 months before: how do you build a bridal glow?

Glowing skin is built, not bought in one visit. A plan of hydrofacials and chemical peels, alternating every few weeks, deep cleans, refines texture and evens tone over time. It suits most skin types and has little or no downtime, so it fits around work and wedding planning.

It is injectable-free, ideal if you want great skin without needles. See hydrofacial and chemical peels.

3 months before: semi-permanent makeup and skin boosters

Semi-permanent brows and lip blush need time. Colour heals in stages over 4 to 6 weeks, then a touch-up 6 to 8 weeks after your first session perfects the result. Book about 3 months before so your touch-up has healed well before the day. Nothing beats waking up on your wedding morning with brows and lips already done. See lip blush and semi-permanent brows.

Skin boosters such as Profhilo work over weeks. A course is usually 2 to 3 sessions about four weeks apart, and results build over 4 to 8 weeks. Start about 3 months before and finish at least 2 weeks before the day. See skin boosters.

6 to 8 weeks before: touch-ups and final resurfacing

This is the time for your PMU touch-up and the last stronger skin treatment, such as a peel or microneedling. After this, skin needs calm, not correction. Keep up your SPF every day: sun damage undoes good work fast.

2 to 4 weeks before: is it too late for lip filler?

Not if you plan it. Lip filler swelling peaks on day 1 to 2 and settles over about two weeks, and some women bruise. Book at least 2 weeks before the wedding, ideally 3 to 4, so your lips have fully settled and there is time for your review appointment. If you have never had filler before, do it earlier still, so you know how your lips react. See lip filler.

The last 2 weeks: what should you avoid?

Nothing new. This is not the time for a first peel, a new active serum or your first injectable. Avoid:

    • New treatments you have never had before.
    • Strong peels, microneedling, IPL or anything that can leave redness.
    • Sunbeds and strong sun on treated skin.
    • Squeezing spots. Call us instead.

2 to 3 days before: why a hydrofacial is the perfect finish

A hydrofacial cleanses, gently exfoliates and hydrates in one treatment, with no downtime. Booked 2 to 3 days before, your skin looks fresh and plump, and make-up sits beautifully. It is also lovely for your mum or bridesmaids. See hydrofacial.

How do we plan your bridal timeline?

Your plan is set by Maria Belina, who has 11 years of experience, and carried out by our trained team. You book each treatment on its own, with live prices on every treatment page, so you only choose what suits your skin, your budget and your date. With injectables, we only go ahead if they suit you.

Book a free consultation and we will build your timeline together.

Quick questions Short answers from this guide.

How far before my wedding should I start skin treatments?

Ideally 6 to 12 months before. Start IPL 6 to 12 months out, PMU and skin boosters about 3 months out, lip filler 2 to 4 weeks before, and a hydrofacial 2 to 3 days before.

When should I get lip filler before my wedding?

At least 2 weeks before, ideally 3 to 4 weeks. Swelling peaks on day 1 to 2 and settles in about two weeks. Try filler earlier if it is your first time.

When should I get Profhilo before my wedding?

Start a course about 3 months before and finish at least 2 weeks before. Results build over 4 to 8 weeks, so your skin looks its best on the day.

When should I get lip blush or semi-permanent brows before my wedding?

About 3 months before. Colour takes 4 to 6 weeks to heal and you need a touch-up 6 to 8 weeks after your first session.

What is the best facial before a wedding?

A hydrofacial 2 to 3 days before is a popular choice: it cleanses, exfoliates and hydrates with no downtime. Avoid strong peels in the last two weeks.

Can you plan my whole bridal skin timeline?

Yes. At a free consultation at Mirabell Aesthetics in Clondalkin, Dublin 22, we put your whole plan on one page around your date, your skin and your budget. You then book each treatment on its own.
